Bellevue Towers

Resident Interview: Mike and Betsy LaTorre

What makes Bellevue Towers special?

Twenty-four hour concierge service, the homeowner website, wonderful downtown location, quietness of the units, ability to barbeque and the wonderful homeowner amenities – urban garden, entertainment rooms, and workout facilities.

Describe your favorite night on the town.

Deciding which restaurant to walk to for dinner! There are so many great spots to choose from and Purple and Lot 3 are always favorites with our 15% discount as a Bellevue Towers resident.

Why did you choose Bellevue Towers over other residential properties?

The finishes and appointments are top notch. We love the space we chose on the 6th floor. We look out over the garden area. The 2100 square feet of living space is perfect as is the outdoor terrace patio we have. The ability to barbeque on the terrace is a favorite for us.

Describe your perfect day at home.

A perfect day at home would consist of walking the dog all over the downtown area in the morning and then meeting friends for lunch and walking to the square for some shopping and stopping at the grocery store on my way home.

Name a few of your favorite eateries and shops nearby, and why.

Purple and Lot 3 with the 15% discount card for residents. Seastar as it’s close and Pearl has a great happy hour. Hedge & Vine, on Main Street is a great new store and I’ve also loved shopping at Henredon-Schoener’s for new furniture for the condo.

Is there a hidden gem to Bellevue that you’ve discovered, something that often gets overlooked?

The jazz place across from Seastar.

What makes Bellevue Towers a great community?

They offer get togethers to meet neighbors, they have a wonderful friendly staff and everything is kept in tip-top shape.

Tell us about your new lifestyle living at Bellevue Towers.

We absolutely love living the downtown Bellevue lifestyle of walking everywhere and discovering new favorite haunts and the ability to really take in the surrounding area as we walk by instead of whizzing by everything in a car.

What makes Bellevue Towers special?

It’s hard to describe what makes Bellevue Towers special. It’s like an iPhone, the whole package is what makes you fall in love with the community. Bellevue Towers is made up of a perfect blend of green design combined with beautiful engineering and durability. It’s amazing the thoughtfulness Bellevue Towers takes every day to make each potential and existing resident feel comfortable. There is only one way to describe Bellevue Towers: genius customer service starting from sales agents to the moving coordinators to the daily pampering by the concierge desk. We have lived in various apartments and condos, but Bellevue Towers is very different, it just feels right, and we look forward to spending many years living in this great community.

Describe your favorite night on the town.

Our favorite night on the town would include taking a stroll to the downtown park, then going for coffee in one of many great cafes nearby and ending with a quiet dinner in one of the local restaurants. The location of Bellevue Towers is what makes all of this possible and convenient. We hardly ever have to use a car or worry about parking which means less time stuck in traffic and finding parking and more time for what matters most.

Why did you choose Bellevue Towers over other residential properties?

Location. Location. Location!!! We are a young family and it seems like life is always on the go. The location of Bellevue Towers makes urban living a joy and provides our family with the possibility of convenience.

Favorite Bellevue Towers amenity, and why?

It has to be the spa and workout facilities. After a long day at work or on a lazy weekend day, going to the sauna simply recharges the batteries for the week ahead.

Describe your perfect day at home.

A perfect day at home would consist of waking up late (the sound proofed windows keeps the city noise out), a quick workout and ending the day in the common areas reading the news and watching TV.

Describe your most memorable moment at Bellevue Towers.

The Halloween Trick or Treat party was amazing. It allowed for many families to get to know each other and for the kids to get their sugar rush and run around and make new friends.

Name a few of your favorite eateries and shops nearby, and why.

Cafe Ladro is the best place for morning coffee. Purple Cafe and Wine Bar has a wonderful atmosphere and lunch menu (not to mention the 15% discount card for Bellevue Towers residents). Blue Martini is our preference for happy hour and live bands.

What makes Bellevue Towers a great community?

The community is a great blend of various age groups and diverse backgrounds, almost like a melting pot, you always see new faces and meet wonderful people in the common areas. The concierge staff always caters to the needs of the residents and goes out of their way to make things convenient.

Resident Interview: Peter and Jeanne Luplow

What makes Bellevue Towers special?

The 4 C’s: Convenience. Community. Concierge. Coffee (everywhere!).

Why did you choose Bellevue Towers over other residential properties?

No comparison. The moment we walked into Bellevue Towers we knew this was the place. Everything was just so obviously a level above everything we had looked at in the area. And we did a lot of comparison…and there was no comparison!

Added bonus that we found out after we moved in was the convenience of commuting to downtown Seattle, since that is where we work. The downtown Seattle express bus picks you up in front of the South Tower Lobby entrance. Having never really commuted on a bus in the past, I was pleasantly surprised at the convenience.

Describe your perfect day at home.

A perfect day would entail having a cup of coffee overlooking the city of Bellevue followed by a workout downstairs and a walk to Bellevue Square mall or a movie at Lincoln Cinemas. We would end the night watching the sunset on our balcony (it doesn’t get any better than that)!

Favorite time of day when you’re at home, and why?

Hard question…to pick one. Right when we get home from work, just spending an easy evening relaxing together and enjoying a walk with our dog.

Name a few of your favorite eateries and shops nearby, and why.

There are so many choices, we haven’t even begun..all within a short walking distance. We love to meet friends right downstairs at Purple, Daniels (for something more special) and easy going everyday favorites at California Pizza Kitchen across the street. Every once in a while we sneak over to Cheesecake Factory when we HAVE to HAVE one of those special desserts. But we have just begun….

Is there a hidden gem to Bellevue that you’ve discovered, something that often gets overlooked?

We are runners and love to run around the area, it is safe, flat, scenic and just beautiful. And of course we always see some friends and neighbors…!

What makes Bellevue Towers special?

Bellevue Towers is ideally located within an easy distance of all that downtown Bellevue has to offer. Its North & South Tower personality and perspective are very unique. The quality level of its community rooms and decor afford owners a feeling of exclusivity and class.

Why did you choose Bellevue Towers over other residential properties?

We chose Bellevue Towers for its location and style. The quality of construction and amenities has the right balance of functionality and design. We also enjoy and respect our LEED status as the first approved residential building in Bellevue.

Describe your perfect day at home.

Yoga in the morning, a stroll to the park to walk our dog, or a visit to the farmer’s market for dinner treats. We often will walk to take in a movie or wine and dine at one of our favorite restaurants.

Favorite time of day when you’re at home, and why?

Late afternoon to enjoy the views of the Cascade Mountains.

Name a few of your favorite eateries and shops nearby, and why.

We enjoy the fresh and exotic flavors of Wild Ginger, and are regulars at SeaStar, Cantinetta, Pearl, and Ruth Chris. Bellevue offers a full array of culinary experiences for dim sum, brunch, lunch, outdoor dining, and awesome happy hours throughout the city.

Is there a hidden gem to Bellevue that you’ve discovered, something that often gets overlooked?

Bellevue Park is overlooked. It is a wonderful, aesthetically pleasing, and functional park. It is a brief, brisk walk and can efficiently achieve all of one’s city escapes – all on foot. The Green way.

Resident Interview: Nancy and Surinder Singh

What makes Bellevue Towers special?

When my husband and I decided we would retire and set up our home in the Seattle area so I could care for my aging parents, we started looking in Seattle near their home. After living in suburban and urban areas in New York, Hong Kong, Boston, Madrid, and Bangalore, India, we knew we wanted the convenience of living in a pedestrian-friendly city with lots of amenities within walking distance. We didn’t love what we found in Seattle. The downtown area was too congested. The nicer neighborhoods still required a car to do most errands. We turned to Bellevue. Once we decided on Bellevue, there wasn’t another condominium project that came close to what Bellevue Towers had to offer.

Why did you choose Bellevue Towers over other residential properties?

The Towers were being constructed when we first found the project. We looked at the model, we perused the floor plans, and we finally took a hard-hat tour. Having our entire unit on one floor was a must, but the addition of a private garden to enjoy, expansive windows to take in the Northwest light, the emphasis on eco-friendly utilities and practices, and the opportunity to meet neighbors with similar values were all very strong reasons for choosing Bellevue Towers.

Describe your perfect day at home.

Our day starts with walking into our light-filled kitchen and brewing a great cup of coffee. We have turned our “den” into an office space. Despite being retired, we find we spend a great deal of time at our computers. California Closets designed a beautiful, functional, and space-saving shared desk space where our dueling iMacs sit side by side. After catching up on the day, we enjoy going downstairs to the cardio or weight rooms for exercise. After breakfast, we do as many errands as we can by walking in town. We feel very strongly about patronizing locally owned and operated businesses.

On a sunny day, we enjoy sitting on our back patio sipping a glass of our favorite Washington or Oregon wines and putting a beautiful fillet of wild-caught Alaskan salmon or halibut on the grill. A perfect day at home.

Favorite time of day when you’re at home, and why?

Morning coffee, with the hustle of young people going off to work or school, deliveries being made to local businesses, knowing we are sitting in our easy chairs enjoying the world turn. Even though we no longer do the daily corporate grind, it is nice to see it in action from a distance. We also love the way high-tech businesses like Microsoft, Expedia, and others have populated the city with a great cross-section of the world. On any given day, I see at least four or five different nationalities on the streets and in our own building. This is the world I was preparing my children for, and it’s lovely to see it blossoming here.

Name a few of your favorite eateries and shops nearby, and why?

Since we are retired, we have many, but we are creatures of habit too. So here are a few of our favorites and why:

  • For coffee and pastry: Belles on Main Street after an early morning walk in the park.
  • For breakfast: Brief Encounter on Bellevue Way because they truly make an omelet the way you want it made and they do it with a smile.
  • For lunch: Café Via Vita on NE 10th because they have a killer chicken potpie in the winter and salads and sandwiches to entice whenever you please, plus they have a good selection of wines from France at affordable prices by the glass.
  • For happy hour: Purple Café & Wine Bar right downstairs or El Gaucho around the corner, especially in the summer months when they both have outdoor seating.
  • For dinner, lunch, and happy hours: Seastar Restaurant and Raw Bar. This is by far our favorite restaurant in Bellevue or Seattle and our gourmet sanctuary. The choices are abundant, the food always delicious, and the service friendly and elegant. Best bar atmosphere and best bartenders in town. Best food in town. Best servers in town. And best sushi in town, too. It is so nice to see how John Howie and Seastar give back to our community through their charitable activities. This is a business we want to support. What more could you want in a neighborhood business?

Is there a hidden gem to Bellevue that you’ve discovered, something that often gets overlooked?

Café Via Vita because it is relatively new to Bellevue in an area that is not yet highly populated, but consistently serves some of the best most affordable meals in town. It may struggle to find its place in a town that has so many good options for food and drink, but this one deserves a second look. And it’s walkable, just down 106th Street to 10th Avenue NE.

Resident Interview: Jed Darland

What makes Bellevue Towers special?

The developers of Bellevue Towers have created a truly unique and special residential building in the heart of downtown Bellevue. Of the residential towers I’ve visited, I believe Bellevue Towers is the most luxurious, modern, and well-conceived building in the Pacific Northwest. The staff and management of Bellevue Towers keep things running smoothly and go out of their way to make the downtown residence feel like home.

Why did you choose Bellevue Towers over other residential properties?

Bellevue Towers was an easy choice for me when I made the decision to move back to the Pacific Northwest. As a designer and having studied architecture in college, I have discriminating taste in construction and design. Before making my decision, I toured all the available properties in the area and decided this was the best choice for me. I found the perfect condominium and didn’t hesitate to secure it.

Describe your perfect day at home.

Since I work from home, I appreciate when the weather cooperates and I can work from my terrace. Living and working downtown means being close to everything, so walking to errands or to the downtown park for a stroll or just a cruise around the downtown core is a pleasure. Having time to enjoy the spa down the hall is a huge bonus.

Favorite time of day when you’re at home, and why?

The light that shines into my condo near sunset throughout the year is an amazing sight. Even when it is cloudy there’s a chance the sun will peek out from below as it nears the horizon. During the winter, the low sun throughout the day beams through my wall of windows and sets my entire living space aglow.

Name a few of your favorite eateries and shops nearby, and why?

Bill the Butcher is a fun place to drop in on, as they offer a wide range of delicious cuts of meat that you won’t necessarily find in your grocer’s cooler. Pasta & Co. has me dropping in to try their delicious samples of cheeses, olives, and prepared salads. They offer a wonderful variety of fresh and delicious food ready to eat and excellent to keep in the fridge at home. Another favorite is the Bellevue Farmer’s Market twice a week during the summer for a wide variety of culinary treasures.

Is there a hidden gem to Bellevue that you’ve discovered, something that often gets overlooked?

During the summer, try on a triathlete’s training wheels and take a quick bike ride from Bellevue Towers south on 108th Avenue to Enatai Beach Park. From there, rent a buoyant conveyance at Cascade Canoe & Kayak and paddle the Mercer Slough to the dock by the pedestrian bridge. Secure your boat and hike over the pedestrian bridge to the Bellefield Trial at the Mercer Slough Nature Park. Big bonus if you can time your adventure for when the blackberries on the slough are ripe. After the first week in August, Bill Pace’s Fruit and Produce is just a short hike in the other direction where you can pick your own fruit. Don’t have a bike to complete the first leg? Rentals are available at Gregg’s Cycle just a couple blocks from Bellevue Towers. Remember to have fun, and always tip your server, but never your canoe.
